Photogravure

Photogravure is an old etching technique that requires a press. It is in the intaglio family of printmaking. Before photopolymer plates, photogravure plates were achieved by etching the image into a copper plate with ferric chloride acid. The plate is then inked and ran through the press, leaving the etched impression on the paper. I've been working with them for about a year and am currently in the process of perfecting large format plates and multiple plate prints. It is challenging, but oh so rewarding when the results pay off.
